My First Experience with the Tree Tents Airspace

Wayne Pearey, adventure travel photographer and videographer, tells us his experience of staying in the Airspace.

The Airspace: "A New Era of Outdoor Luxury"

As an avid camper and outdoor enthusiast, I’ve always been on the lookout for new and innovative ways to experience nature. So, when I heard about the Tree Tents Airspace; a revolutionary new design that promises to blend the raw beauty of camping with the comforts of a luxury retreat, I was immediately intrigued. Little did I know that I would be the first person in the UK to experience this magnificent structure. Here is my journey into the world of the Airspace tent, a hybrid camping experience like no other.

Arrival at WildComfort: A Gateway to Nature’s Beauty

My adventure begins at Wild Comfort, a picturesque site known for its breathtaking Victorian gardens and soothing ocean sounds. Upon arrival, I’m greeted by the friendly owners who lead me through the lush, manicured grounds to my temporary abode – the Airspace. The tent stands majestically among the trees, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings, yet standing out with its unique, futuristic design. My excitement grew as I approached the entrance.

First Impressions: A Tent Like No Other

Stepping into the Airspace tent for the first time is an experience in itself. The interior is spacious and airy, with a high ceiling that makes the tent feel more like a small cabin than a traditional camping tent. The walls are made of a durable, weather-resistant material that allows for ample natural light to filter through, while keeping the elements at bay.

One of the most striking features of the Airspace tent is its versatility. With a simple adjustment, the tent can be opened up to let in the fresh air and sounds of nature, creating an immersive outdoor experience. Alternatively, it can be closed down to transform into a cosy, private hideaway. This flexibility was a game-changer, offering the best of both worlds – the feeling of sleeping under the stars, alongside the option to retreat into a warm, sheltered space whenever needed. The tent reminds me of some of the luxury Safari lodges I stayed in whilst visiting Kenya. A blend of permanent and semi-permanent structures. Blending canvas with more luxury holdings.

A Cosy Evening by the Log Burner Stove

As the evening approaches, I find myself drawn to the log burner stove situated in the center of the tent. This thoughtfully designed feature not only provides warmth but also adds a touch of rustic charm to the modern tent. I spend hours sitting in front of the stove, the crackling fire creating a soothing ambience that perfectly complements the natural surroundings. The warmth of the fire, combined with the gentle rustling of the trees outside, made for an incredibly relaxing evening.

The kitchenette area is another highlight of the Airspace tent. Despite its compact size, it was equipped with everything I needed to prepare my essential morning coffee. The designers have put a lot of thought into this space, incorporating clever storage solutions and a high-quality finish.

Elevated Sleeping Area: Sleeping Under the Stars

After a satisfying evening drinking tea out on the porch, I climbed up to the elevated sleeping area, a loft-like space that provides a comfortable and secluded sleeping environment. One of the most unique aspects of this area is the ability to open up the front panel, allowing for an unobstructed view of the forest. Lying in bed, gazing out into the canopy of the trees, I felt a deep connection to nature, a rare experience in a traditional camping setup.

The elevated sleeping area also offers the perfect vantage point to appreciate the beauty of the gardens and the ocean beyond. Waking up to the sound of the waves and the sight of the meticulously maintained gardens was a truly magical experience. It was a reminder of the serenity and beauty that nature offers, and the importance of finding ways to integrate these elements into our daily lives.

A Morning Walk: Immersed in Nature

The following morning, I decide to take a walk around the WildComfort campsite. The combination of the ocean sounds and the sights of the Victorian gardens created a sensory experience that was both invigorating and calming. As I strolled through the gardens, I couldn’t help but marvel at the intricate design and attention to detail that had gone into maintaining this natural haven.

WildComfort is a place where time seems to stand still, where the hustle and bustle of everyday life fade away, leaving only the simple pleasures of nature. Walking through the gardens, I felt a deep sense of peace and contentment, a feeling that stayed with me long after I returned to the Airspace.

Reflecting on the Experience: A New Standard in Camping

As my time with the Airspace Tent came to an end, I took a moment to reflect on the experience. The tent had exceeded all my expectations, offering a unique blend of outdoor adventure and indoor comfort. It’s clear that Tree Tents have put a great deal of thought and effort into designing a structure that caters to the needs of modern campers, without compromising on the fundamental connection to nature that makes camping so special.

The ability to transform the tent from an open, airy space to a cozy, private retreat was a standout feature, providing the flexibility to adapt to changing weather conditions and personal preferences. The log burner stove and the well-equipped kitchenette added to the overall comfort and convenience, making it possible to enjoy the finer things in life while surrounded by the beauty of the great outdoors.
