Inside Wildcomfort: A Living Showroom for Tree Tents
Tucked away in a hidden pocket of Devon's rugged coastline is Wildcomfort, a truly special retreat that does more than offer guests an off-grid escape. It also serves as Tree Tents’ living showroom, giving prospective clients a unique opportunity to experience our structures exactly as their future guests might: in the wild, immersed in nature, and thoughtfully designed for comfort, sustainability, and style.
We caught up with Wildcomfort founders Lou and Tim to hear their story, and to invite you - our future clients - to step inside their site and see the magic for yourself.
A Shared Vision for Wild Design
Finding Tree Tents was a real turning point forLou and Tim, at the beginning of their outdoor hospitality journey…
“We looked for a supplier for quite a while and it was finding Tree Tents who were able to provide us with the sustainability credentials, quality, design and especially the detailing, that we wanted wildcomfort guests to experience.”
“Importantly, Tree Tents were able to install in a very beautiful location but in very tricky spot to access”
Wildcomfort now hosts four Tree Tents structures, each one uniquely tailored to the site’s natural surroundings and guest experience. From the compact yet luxurious Birdhouses to the elevated Airspace (also known as The Lookout), the collection showcases what's possible when thoughtful architecture meets wild settings.
Why Prospective Clients Should Visit
What makes Wildcomfort so valuable for prospective site owners isn’t just the beautiful setting - it’s the real-world knowledge Lou and Tim bring to the table. They’ve lived the journey from concept to construction to hosting - and they’re happy to share their insights with others.
Clients can arrange a personal tour with Lou and Tim, or even opt to stay overnight at a discounted rate. This gives you the rare chance to sleep in one of the structures, experience its layout, design features, quality craftsmanship, and views firsthand - just like your future guests would.
Feedback That Speaks Volumes
Lou explains how generous guest are with feedback for the site, and the structures. “I know what experience they walk away with because they tell us all the time”.
“The birdhouses are compact and bijou, guests love the huge round window which frames the sweeping sea views and makes them feel a part of nature, they often comment on the high standard of the build (and insulated for the cold and heat) and they love the detailing”, Lou explains.
“Combined with our location and all the details we add to give them a unique stay, the partnership with Tree Tents is a great match.”
This kind of guest feedback is invaluable to anyone thinking about launching their own retreat. At Wildcomfort, you get a front-row seat to how Tree Tents structures perform in real life - and how they help elevate a brand.Time after time, guest after guest.
A Site Built on Collaboration
Every installation at Wildcomfort has been a creative collaboration - Tree Tents meets each challenge with flexibility and finesse.
Lou explains why, after many years, their site is exclusively made up of Tree Tents accommodation: “They always take on a wildcomfort challenge in design and location installation. We enjoy being able to express some of our ideas (like The Lookout aka Airspace) and adding an ensuite to a birdhouse and for the team to transfer it into reality. We always feel confident that they will deliver on superb design and detailing, this is for us what makes them stand out from other suppliers and helps make wildcomfort stand out as well.”
That same collaborative spirit is extended to prospective clients who visit the site. You’re not just touring some structures, you’re connecting with people who’ve built a successful retreat using Tree Tents from the ground up.
