Sharing The Bird’s Eye View In Wild Comfort!

As seen on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces – Wilderness cabin designers Tree Tents International have a couple of brand new exciting structures to add to their design bow that also meet the new glamping market needs.

From the TTI® workshop based in the beautiful Sussex countryside emerged Jason’s original Tree Tent design, then along came the Fuselage cabin, throw in a scattering of Okra designs including dining pods and you have everything you need for innovative eco-friendly tree houses and cabins. But now they are not alone…

Jason’s latest success are the Birdhouse and Outhouse structures, adding to Britain’s amazing mark on innovation in outdoor design. We all know the classic woodland cabin, but these new structures add that little bit more excitement and intrigue of experiencing wild places while also offering comfortable facilities.

The Birdhouse Interior

The design of the Birdhouse was born as a result of customers loving the Tree Tent but not having the suitable trees for suspension, which got Jason thinking… What if there was a cabin that could enjoy the heights of the canopy but can also be installed at ground level and at a similar price?

It’s all about sustainability and simplicity. Raised, lightweight, with a large circular window and the choice of outer cladding, the Birdhouse really makes the most of incredible views with different clever interior options to maximise space and help create the perfect escape into the wilderness. While the Outhouse offers comfortable off or on-grid facilities for when ‘nature calls’. Not only has the Birdhouse been designed to work with nature but it also brings the charm of a classic birdhouse which you might spot on one of your favourite trees. And it is not just us humans that can enjoy the cabin, you can find a clever bird feeder added into the ‘perch’ outside of the big window meaning you can sit and watch the birds enjoy the same view!

TTI®  have also worked out that by making their structures flat-pack they could be ‘greener’ in manufacturing, transportation and construction, minimising impact to the surrounding ecology on site.

The Outhouse – wildcomfort

There has been a massive growth in the glamping sector since 2010 and now more than ever it is a lucrative and sustainable investment opportunity for rural landowners. As a result of the recent years, and the staycation boom, more sites are looking for unique structures to make them stand out in the mainstream tourism world. The Birdhouse and Outhouse are ideal for this growing market as they are affordable structures in the cabin market but highly innovative and efficient as well as being made from locally-sourced, recyclable materials and of course, fun.

As Jason puts it, “It’s not just making them different for different’s sake. It’s actually putting a little bit of character into them!”

Birdhouse & Outhouse Install

And like the Fuselage, the Birdhouse can withstand the most challenging of natural environments, just look at where the first ones were installed at wildcomfort!

Overlooking the stunning Start Bay coastline in Devon, Wild Comfort couldn’t be a better spot to show what the Birdhouse and Outhouse can bring to an off-grid, remote site. Due to clever engineering, the structures were easily placed on their ‘perches’ (decking designed by Jason to help really take in the views). Wild Comfort is also a great example of how to lay out your ‘wild’ site to maximise a truly memorable experience for guests. The site offers guests a comfy large double bed, tea/coffee facilities, bioethanol fireplace, private decking area and private bathroom with large shower.

Check out wildcomfort if you would like to book a stay!

We are also so excited to watch last nights episode (8) of Amazing Spaces on Channel 4 where George Clarke re-visits Tree Tents and talks to Jason about how he and the business have progressed over the last decade.

“We’ve gone on quite an amazing journey together, I think, over the last ten years. Life changing for both of us. It’s not only incredible to come back and see the Tree Tent after all these years looking so good, but it’s also brilliant to see Jason with a new business that is absolutely thriving. Designing and building small-space structures he really loves.” – George Clarke.
